When I see wasted youth (under 40) men of you muslim community, one pattern I see is ignorance. Despite all having access to the internet, I find our community deeply ignorant of most subjects. We all have the world’s knowledge at our fingertips, either online, or in a book that can be ordered online. If you do not want to pay money, you can go to your local library and borrow books for free, with physically or digitally. I have no idea why our people still have an 8 year old’s education level understanding of science, physics, economics, or politics. We are all truly at the mercy of mainstream propaganda.
What do I need to knowledge of economics for? One may ask. Well simply, you need it so that when a scammer comes around trying to trick you, he will fail. Our society is filled with traps. We live in a free market and we have a wide array of people in our world. Someone will pray on your ignorance for example when they tell you to buy doge coin, a timeshare, or take out a loan for that BMW. All of these things and other scams, keep us poor and divided. We end up with our muslim ummah, pouring all of their spare income, not in charity or businesses, but in fake coins, high interest loans, low interest loans for high ticket items we don’t need, perhaps gold, currency speculation, or other forms of high risk low reward endeavors.
What do I need knowledge of science for? Another may ask. Well, that’s so you will be able to question all the hotly accepted pseudo-science takes that modern snake oil salesmen try to sell you on. Take quantum physics for example. No one in the muslims ummah understands many of the very basic concepts of quantum physics that can be learned and digested by anyone in one afternoon. If you take one hour and read one wikipedia page on this topic, you will not be at the mercy of scammer ‘gurus’ who will try to enlighten you about it. These ‘gurus’ will explain fake science to you, in a way that makes you believe in garbage and then part with your soul and money. And everyday we have muslims incorporating pseudoscience into their Islam, leading anyone who’ll listen astray. Allah warns us of this:
There is the type of man whose speech about this world’s life May dazzle thee, and he calls Allah to witness about what is in his heart; yet is he the most contentious of enemies.
2:204 – وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن يُعْجِبُكَ قَوْلُهُۥ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَيُشْهِدُ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ مَا فِى قَلْبِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَلَدُّ ٱلْخِصَامِ
Further, Allah warns us to not follow that to which we have no knowledge as we will be called into question of everything we had in our heart:
And pursue not that of which thou hast no knowledge; for every act of hearing, or of seeing or of (feeling in) the heart will be enquired into (on the Day of Reckoning).
17:36 – وَلَا تَقْفُ مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِۦ عِلْمٌ ۚ إِنَّ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَٱلْبَصَرَ وَٱلْفُؤَادَ كُلُّ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ كَانَ عَنْهُ مَسْـُٔولًۭا
What do I need knowledge of politics for? If you do not know how your society works, how can you work to change it? At the very least you will be better equipped at predicting the future and plan for it. How many of us believe that the freemasons run everything? This is the simplest way to disempower your entire community, just believe that everything is rigged and nothing can be done.
What do I need knowledge of religion and spirituality for? If you have not studied pre-Islamic religions, pagan religions, Judaism and christianity, then how will you know what made the Islamic message special? How will you then know what view and beliefs are islamic in nature rather than Hindu in nature for example? How many muslims believe in reincarnation? In purgatory? Despite there being no detailed explanation of either in the Quran? Some enemies of Allah have taken broad concepts not specified in the Quran (mysteries of Allah), and have declared that they know the true meaning. In order to receive special answers that no one else has, your ego will follow these soothsayers. Ultimately, how is it that many muslims believe in neo-Platoism? Or the catholic idea of original sin? Hindiism? Even in religious concepts that are similar to the jewish faith? If you do not know what makes Islam the unique message it is, and you have never studied other religions, you will find it difficult to determine if a message is compatible with Islam or anti-Islam.
Ultimately, our muslim men would rather spend all their spare time watching sports, movies, shows, video games, and God forbid drink and do drugs. Reading is easy and it is a quick way to gain knowledge, and yet muslims seem to be content with ignorance. The Quran advises us to verify all news we hear:
O ye who believe! If a wicked person comes to you with any news, ascertain the truth, lest ye harm people unwittingly, and afterwards become full of repentance for what ye have done.
49:6 – يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِن جَآءَكُمْ فَاسِقٌۢ بِنَبَإٍۢ فَتَبَيَّنُوٓا۟ أَن تُصِيبُوا۟ قَوْمًۢا بِجَهَـٰلَةٍۢ فَتُصْبِحُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَا فَعَلْتُمْ نَـٰدِمِينَ ٦
Even our religious leaders such as Imam Hussein abu ‘Abdallah (as) has said the following:
“The Messenger of Allah said, ‘Seeking knowledge is obligatory for every Muslim. Let it be known that Allah loves those who seek knowledge.”
Al-Kafi, book of knowledge, Kitab Al-Kafi, H 35, Ch. 1, h 1 – Muhammad ibn Ya‘qub has narrated from Ali ibn Ibrahim ibn Hashim from his father from al- Hassan ibn abu al-Hassan al-Farisi from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Ziyad from his father from abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) who has said the following.
Imam Hussein abu Abdallah (as) further stated:
“(Imam) abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) has said, ‘People are destroyed only because they do not ask (what they do not know).’”
Al-Kafi, book of knowledge, Kitab Al-Kafi, H 83, Ch. 9, h 2 – Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Hammed ibn ‘Isa from Hariz from Zurra, Muhammad ibn Muslim and Burayd al-‘Ijli who has said the following.
What would the muslim ummah look like if we were readers, writers, and scholars? How would we raise our kids? How would we worship Allah? Would we be more or less united? Would we be richer or poorer? Would we give more or less to charity? Would we have more or less poverty? I think if we actually educated ourselves, our souls and our lives would improve 1000x
