The Quran mentions chastity. Here are the verses.
“…[Lawful in marriage are] chaste women (muḥṣanāt) from among the believers and chaste women from among those who were given the Scripture before you…”
(Qur’an 5:5)
In this preceding verse, Allah tells men to marry chaste women. This is an order from Allah to men.
“And let those who do not find the means to marry keep themselves chaste until Allah enriches them from His bounty…”
(Qur’an 24:33)
In this preceding verse, Allah tells those men who do not have the means to marry, keep themselves chaste until Allah enriches them so that they could then get married. In other words, it is a requirement for a man to get married, so long as he has the means to do so. If he doesn’t have the means to, then he is to keep himself chaste.
“And [forbidden to you are] married women, except those your right hands possess. [This is] the decree of Allah upon you. And lawful to you are all beyond these, [provided] that you seek them [in marriage] with gifts from your property, desiring chastity, not unlawful sexual intercourse…”
(Qur’an 4:24)
In this preceding verse, Allah set tells us that you are not allowed to approach married women, except women who your right hand possess, with the intention of desiring chastity, not unlawful sex. There appears to be some version of marriage to a certain class of women, which may be permitted, for men, and this would maintain their chastity.
“And those who guard their private parts,
except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed –
but whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors.”
(Qur’an 23:5–7)
In the preceding verse, Allah swt commands men to not have sex with anyone except their wives and those that their right hands possess (Malakat aymanikum), and they are not to be blamed, unless they go beyond this – which is marrying more than four women, or having sex with women who are not ‘Malakai aymanikum’ (right hands possess), then they have transgressed, and are causing evil in society (we can assume). At the least they are sinning.
“Indeed, the Muslim men and Muslim women, the believing men and believing women… the men who guard their private parts and the women who do so… Allah has prepared for them forgiveness and a great reward.”
(Qur’an 33:35)
Allah swt, in the preceding verse states here that men and women who guard their private parts will be forgiven by Allah and given a great reward in heaven.
“Corrupt women are for corrupt men, and corrupt men are for corrupt women; and good (chaste) women are for good (chaste) men, and good men are for good women…”
(Qur’an 24:26)
This verse seems to make it clear that women and men of similar chastity will be paired up together for marriage. This could be an order from Allah swt, or just a law of nature that Allah swt has placed onto the earth. Most would interpret this as a mystical meaning so that Allah with his power will ensure you marry someone of your similar Chasity rating.
It is clear from the Quran that chastity is a requirement. Women can only marry one man at a time and men are instructed to only marry for permanent marriage chaste women. Otherwise men can marry ‘Malakat aymanikum’ that is bondswomen, women with no home in need of support. This would be the common interpretation. In the past, women would live with their parents, under a man’s umbrella. Or, if she had no man, she would need to be a bondswoman to a family with a man. These were the options.
Men and women today must seek chastity at all times. Men are not permitted to marry women unless they are a permanent chaste wife, or a chaste girl who is sworn to him for support (my interpretation). Men are not able to sleep around and women are not either.
